Preserve the Estate Tax
Resolution Adopted by the Democratic State Committee -- May 4, 2001
WHEREAS the estate tax is necessary to preserve the American ideal that “all persons are created equal”;
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED THAT the New York State Democratic Committee urges our two U.S. Senators and Members of Congress to support legislation that would preserve the estate tax except for permitting special provisions as deferred payments for family businesses.
This resolution was written by Robert Ginsberg, adopted by the Manhattan Caucus and the Reform Caucus of the NY Democratic State Committee, and adopted at the meeting of the Democratic State Committee in Albany, NY on May 4, 2001.
